It has been a minute, hasn’t it?
If you’ve noticed the radio silence on the blogging front over the past year and a half, I promise I haven’t forgotten about this space. In fact, I’ve missed writing and connecting with you all immensely. Life simply took over in the best, most beautifully exhilirating way possible.
For the past eighteen months, I’ve thrown my absolute all into building and expanding my coaching, tutoring, and teaching profession. It has been a whirlwind of lesson planning, student breakthroughs, and professional growth across a few different incredible roles.
Here is a little bit of what’s been keeping me away from the keyboard:
The Professional Whirlwind
- Global English Communications Tutoring: I’ve had the privilege of working as an English Communications tutor for both students and working professionals right across the globe. Helping people find their voice, ace their interviews, and build confidence in their communication skills is incredibly rewarding. But managing time zones and tailored sessions meant my own writing had to take a back seat.
- Progress Coaching in Surrey: Closer to home, I spent a brilliant chapter working as a Progress Coach at a Further Education college in Surrey. Guiding young people through their academic journeys and helping them navigate their next steps kept me on my toes and deeply invested in student success.
- Sixth Form Tutoring in Berkshire: More recently, my path led me to a sixth form college in Berkshire. Here, I’ve been continuing my pastoral and academic tutoring work, supporting students during some of the most pivotal years of their education.
- Stepping into the T-Level Classroom: If that wasn’t enough, the last few weeks have brought an incredibly exciting new challenge. I’ve embarked on an opportunity to deliver lessons for Year 12 T-Level Marketing students. It’s been fantastic to step into this space and capitalise on my 20+ years of professional experience across the private and public sector marketing industries. Bringing real-world industry knowledge into the classroom has been an absolute joy.
Reclaiming My Balance: Heat, Movement, and Eight Wheels
With so much energy poured into my professional life, I felt I needed to pour some of that energy back into myself. Over the last few months, I’ve made a conscious effort to reclaim my personal time. This has led me back to old loves—and into a completely new challenge.
First, I rediscovered my love for hot yoga and hot pilates. Returning to the heated studio has been a game-changer.
Physically, the intense heat allows my muscles to open up, building core strength, flexibility, and flushing out toxins. But the mental and emotional impact has been even greater.
In a life filled with schedules and deadlines, that hot room forces me to practice mindfulness. I have to focus on my breath and the present moment. This has become a vital tool for releasing stress and resetting my emotional baseline.
Energised after each class, I do not wait long to book my next session. Be warned – it is that addictive!

Then, there’s my newest adventure: learning how to roller skate!
Talk about a lesson in humility and joy. Physically, it is a phenomenal, low-impact cardio workout that challenges my balance, stability, and uses muscle groups I forgot I had. Emotionally and mentally, it has been completely liberating.

There is something profoundly healing about learning a brand-new skill as an adult.
It taps into a sense of childlike play and freedom that we so easily lose grip of.
When I’m on eight wheels, I can’t think about lesson plans or emails; I am fully alive, laughing through the wobbles, and building a whole new kind of resilience.
Returning to Life and Soul Food
Reconnecting with my own physical and mental well-being has given me a renewed spark to return to the literal heart of Life and Soul Food: dishes and ideas that provide genuine nourishment.

For my first few posts back, I will share some deeply personal, anti-inflammatory Cantonese recipes that have offered profound eczema and asthma relief for both me and my family over the years.
